Yahoo Will Begin Testing Bing Powered Results This Month

Yahoo recently sent out an email to their advertisers that discusses some of the organic Yahoo to Bing transition topics. The email goes over some of the basic questions about the transition and gives some pointers, but it adds some appreciated insight into the launch of the Bing search results in the Yahoo engine and dates of when they will begin testing.
In the email, Yahoo confirmed that they are currently testing the Bing powered results “offline”, but today, for the first time, Yahoo confirmed that they will be testing the Bing powered results in the live search results this month.
The email said:
“Though much of our testing is already happening offline, this month (July 2010) we’ll also test the deliver of organic and paid search results provided by Microsoft on live Yahoo! traffic.” Yahoo also said: “testing volumes will fluctuate during this period” and they will ensure to keep the “paid search volume in particular kept low” so that it will not impact their advertisers adversely.
It is assumed that the complete switch over will happen sometime in August or September, depending on how the testing goes, but you should keep your eyes open for the Bing search results on Yahoo as early as the next few days. source: seo.com

- The description you give when submitting to yahoo web directory should include your major keywords, however don't try to repeat them too much. Very important step.

- Click Popularity is part of Yahoo's Algorithm, Google doesn't put much on that to determines one website ranking. The more visitors click on your website from Yahoo SERP's, the more you'll get close to the Top Ranking.

- The category you are listed in Yahoo Web Directory should (if possible) contain some keywords. This plays a little with the ranking.

- Site-wide linking. Its a choice you have to make, you can get one link per domain in order to rank well on google search engine but you can also get a lot of site-wide linking from other site, Yahoo loves it.

Some people on internet say that Yahoo uses PageRank from google as part of its algorithm. Web sites you see appearing in Yahoo SERP's TOP 10 have sometimes PageRank and sometimes not. PageRank is only used for google search engine ranking and it's affiliates.

Yahoo Ranking Rules
You have to submit your website over yahoo web directory and search engines. Here are the links : Yahoo Website Free Request.

Do not submit all your web pages one by one, you just need to submit your home page, spamming the submission process can result to a ban of your web site on yahoo search engine and you might never appear on yahoo SERPS.

Hungry Hungry Search Engines

Search engines love words - they feed off them ravenously. They send hungry little bots out to your website for the very purpose of gathering words about your business which they garner, categorise and store. You need to satiate the search engines' hunger for words by giving them as many relevant ones about your business as you can manage. This is what Information Technology is - the use of technology to store and organise information. If you don't provide very much textual information then don't expect to get found in an awful hurry or for an awful lot of different searches made through the search engines.

The words you identify that are relevant to your business are known as your 'keywords' or key phrases' and these are what you want to concentrate upon ranking well for in the search engines

Check if Your site indexed under a different domain

If you see a message that your site is not indexed, it may be because it is indexed under a different domain. For example, if you receive a message that http://itcas.org is not indexed, make sure that you've also added http://www.itcas.org to your account (or vice versa), and check the data for that site.
Why?
Not all websites have URLs in the form www.itcas.org. Your root URL may not include the www subdomain (itcas.org); it may include a custom subdomain (rollergirl.itcas.org); or your site may live in a subfolder, for example if it's hosted on a free hosting site (www.itcas.org/rollergirl/).
Most people don't think of www as a subdomain. It's a very, very common subdomain, and many sites serve the same content whether you access them with or without the www. But to Google, example.com and www.itcas.org are two different URLs with the potential to serve different content. For this reason, they're considered different sites in Webmaster Tools. When you're looking at the data for www.itcas.org you're not seeing the data for itcas.org (without the wwwsubdomain), and vice versa.
Since we want webmasters to be able to access our tools regardless of how their site is hosted, you can add any combination of domain, subdomain(s), and/or subfolder(s) as a "site" on your Webmaster Tools dashboard. We'll show you the information we have for that particular piece of the web, however big or small it may be. If you've verified your domain at the root level, we'll show you data for that whole domain; if you've only verified a particular subfolder or subdomain, we'll only show you data for that subfolder or subdomain. For example, someone who blogs with Blogger has access to the data for their own subdomain (googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com), but not the entire blogspot.com domain.
Google recommends that you improve how your data is displayed by setting a preferred domain.
